Basic Operations - Definition and Examples


The basic operations in arithmetic refer to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

The operator for addition is  +  and an example of addition is 8 + 2

The operator for subtraction is  -  and an example of subtraction is 6 - 4

The operator for multiplication is  x  and an example of multiplication is 10 x 5

The operator for division is ÷ and an example of division is 16 ÷ 8
