# Constant - Definition and Examples

A constant is a term that has no variable. Since a constant has no variable, the value of the constant will remain fixed or never change.

Constants can be found in math equations, mathematical expressions, formulas, ...

## Examples of constants

**1.** For the polynomial expression 6a^{3} + 4a^{2} + a - 8, the constant is -8

**2.** For the quadratic equation a^{2} + 3a + 2 = 0, the constant is 2

**3.** For the linear equation 2x - 6 = 9, the constants are -6 and 9

**4.** For the circumference formula C = πD, the constant is π = 3.14
