How long is a year? A year is a unit of time that is equal to 365 days in a calendar year.

How long is a year exactly?

In reality, a year is equal to 365.25 days since this is the time it takes the earth to orbit the sun.

In order to make sure that we include 0.25 day, we add 1 day every four years in the calendar. This is called a leap year. Check this lesson about how to find leap years to get the full story.
