What is a Cubic Yard? Definition and Examples


A cubic yard, also written as 1 yd3, is a unit for measuring the volume in the customary measurement system. 

If one cubic yard measures the volume of a cube, then each side of the cube will have a length that is equal to 1 yard or 3 feet.
